The minute we landed on @globetrotting_gingertravel‘s Instagram page, we were swept away not only by the amazing shots of nature and her experiences all around the world, but by her fiery red hair! We had a chance to ask her about her experiences abroad and her tips for doing it yourself in our exclusive interview:
How did you get started blogging?
It is something I have wanted to do for years, but I never started it because I was always so “busy,” but if you really have a passion or a dream, you will make time for it no matter what!
What is your most favorite place in the world?
This is such a hard question. I have like a top 10 list, but I guess if I had to pick, I would maybe say Hawaii. I have never felt so connected to a place in my life. The nature, the landscapes, the culture and food are all so incredible- not to mention shaved ice is one of the best things in this world!
When/how did you realize your passion for travel?
It was when I was 18 and first starting college. I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Egypt and Israel and that experience honestly changed my life. Seeing places with such contrasting cultures to my own was so fascinating and enthralling and once you have that experience, you can’t turn your back on it. You want to experience that again and again.
What are the best/worst things about traveling solo?
The best things about traveling solo are the complete freedom you have and how you are kind of forced out of your comfort zone so you will find yourself meeting new people or in new situations you might not have found yourself in if you were traveling with others.
The worst thing is just that sometimes it can be lonely. I mostly always meet new friends, but there have been days where I didn’t really meet anyone and even though I absolutely enjoyed where I was, it can be nice to share that experience with someone else.
Have you ever fallen in love while on the road? I have fallen in love again with the person I was already in love with on the road. I believe in a relationship, you fall in love over and over and traveling with the person you love is such a great experience, I highly recommend it to any one!
You spend a lot of time in nature, any survival tips?
My most important tip is to always tell someone where you are going or around the coordinates you will be if you are exploring a broad destination. If you don’t show up back where you should be, that person will know that something is wrong and so you won’t get stranded and stuck in a scary situation.
What are some of your favorite travel apps?
My favorite is Rome2Rio. It will show you all of your options to get from one place to another with various prices, it shows trains, buses, uber, walking, ferries, flying, etc.! It has definitely come in handy while on the road!
What does an adventure designer do and where can we read more about your services?
I essentially design adventures for people! I’m like a travel agent, but I can design very specific adventures to each client’s needs and fully customize them based on each person! It is a passion of mine and I do everything in my power to make sure each client has the most amazing time! If anyone is interested, my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org. I will also have a website launching very soon! Www.globetrottinggingertravel.com
Stay tuned for more interviews! And remember, if you need a room, your hotel is on Elvoline 🙂
